My mom's birthday is today! I made her a covered journal using the tutorial from
http://bloomandblossom.blogspot.com/! Her tutorial was super easy to follow and I really like the results. I didn't have iron-on Pellon, so I substituted fusible web and Warm and Natural batting. I really like the results.

I also used some of my scrapbook stash to embellish it a little. The charm at the bottom of the bookmark says "inspire".

I added her initials to the bookmark with letter beads.

The washer is a Making Memories one that says "happiness".

Here is a shot of the inside. Her favorite color is blue. For the patchwork on the front I used a Hampton Blues charm pack from Timeless Treasures. The yellow is a dragonfly print from Joann's Fabrics and the blue inside is a paisley print from a fat quarter from Joann's. As you can see, I made a mistake. I was so excited that I made this I put the bookmark in the bottom and not the top! I actually like it that way. When I make another one, I might just do it again!

I would recommend this tutorial. It is easy to follow and the results are beautiful. It is also a really quick project. About an hour or so is all it takes.
Have a great day.

What a beautiful gift. I should give one to my mother. One of her biggest regrets is not writing in a journal. No time like the present eh?
